Minimum standards required

Holiday Cottages with Broadband, The perfect escapeIt is essential that our guests must only find a place to stay that genuinely provides what they are looking for, and as such we must insist on certain standards to accept your listing on each website.

It is highly likely your facilities will far exceed the minimum requirements, and you can update your own listings to reflect this.

 

  • Beachside Holiday Cottages – Must be within a ten minute drive to a beach or the coast.
  • Bird Watching Holiday Cottages – Must provide information to guests about which birds can be seen in the vicinity and where.
  • Holiday Cottages with Broadband - Must have broadband internet access for guests’ use.
  • Child Friendly Holiday Cottages - Provide cot and highchair on request, microwave, washing machine (can be communal), bath (or baby bath), easy parking close by (not on a busy road), easy access with a push chair.
  • Country Farm Holidays – Must be a working farm or smallholding.
  • Holiday Cottages for Couples - Must have one bedroom and offer some seclusion for couples.
  • Cycling Holiday Cottages – Must provide information on cycle routes direct from the door, and have somewhere secure to store bicycles.
  • Dog Friendly Cottage Holidays – Must welcome well-behaved pets. Extra charge is optional.
  • Eco Friendly Holiday Cottages – Confirm that facilities are in place for the recycling of guest’s household rubbish; energy efficient light bulbs are used throughout; there is somewhere on site to store cycles and walking boots; an effort has been made to conserve/enhance flora and fauna on site; there is some provision of information on local transport and local food suppliers; guests are made aware of controls for heating and hot water.
  • Fishing Cottage Holidays – Must be within a ten minute drive to some fishing of any kind.  Information must also be provided inside cottage to explain to guest where the fishing is and who to contact about licences etc.
  • Golfing Holiday Cottages – Must be within a ten minute drive to a golf course.
  • Holiday Cottages near a Good Pub – Must be within a twenty minute walk to a good pub.
  • Heritage Holiday Cottages – Property must be historically significant in some way, and information on that history must be provided for guests to read.
  • Holiday Cottages with a Hot Tub - Private hot tub on site for guests’ use.
  • Large Group Holiday Cottages – Must be able to accommodate 8 or more guests in a single cottage, or a group of cottages that are adjacent to each other.
  • Real Fire Holiday Cottages – Must have an open fire or wood burner in at least one cottage.
  • Stargazing Holidays - Must be located within or on the periphery of a Dark Sky Park, Reserve or Community officially recognized by the International Dark-Sky Association and/or offer stargazing instruction to guests.  Welcome pack must ask guests to switch off outside lights when not in use.
  • Holiday Cottages with a Swimming Pool – Private swimming pool on site for guests’ use.
  • Holiday Cottages with Tennis Courts – Must have a tennis court on site for guests’ use.
  • Unusual Holiday Cottages – Must simply be accommodation not normally associated with residential occupation.
  • Walking Holiday Cottages – Must have walks which guests can undertake direct from the door, and information about them must be provided within the cottage.
  • Wheelchair Access Holiday Cottages – Must at least have level access, or a ramp provided if not, into the cottage and one bedroom and bathroom.  Walk-in shower (can be a standard shower tray, but with fixed or temporary grab rails) provided.
  • Your Northumberland Guide – Open to any tourism business in Northumberland.
